- Dr. David Berceli

“To be alive as a human being guarantees we will all experience trauma in our lives.”

My process:

Regardless of your goals, it’s important to approach lifestyle changes with patience and understanding. We’ll start by defining what overall emotional, spiritual, and physical health means to you. Then we identify the mental and emotional barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want. We’ll work together to create space in your routine for sustainable behavior change. Finally, I’ll help you refine the tools we’ve created to turn those changes into habits.

Internal Family Systems Therapy

In IFS, all parts are welcome.

Internal Family Systems is an empowering, transformative evidence-based model of psychotherapy. The belief behind this approach is that every person has different parts, which is a positive thing. Our core Self connects with each of these parts to find out where/when they originated, what they do for us, and how we can help them release the burdens they've been carrying. Essentially, we all have the power to heal ourselves - IFS can help to facilitate that journey.

Individual IFS Sessions

  • 45 minute sessions: currently offered via video call

Yoga & Meditation

Every cue offered in a trauma-informed yoga class is an empowering invitation, as each student is in control of their own practice. There are no physical adjustments offered; only verbal instruction is used. Teachers remain in the student's vision at all times. Students have the opportunity to create an environment in class that feels comfortable for them.

Together, we'll work towards reclaiming our bodies and our ability to choose, exploring our relationship with ourselves and others, regulating the nervous system, and more.

Individual Yoga Sessions

  • 60/75 minute practices: conducted via video call or in-person for clients in the Madison area

YogAutism Sessions

One-on-one sessions based on the YogAutism™ 5-part Recipe.

Physiologically, the 5-part recipe addresses key areas of the body responsible for healthier breathing. "The Recipe" consists of five foundational poses or exercises:

  • Grounding Typically done as a foot massage by oneself or by the facilitator, with or without supportive materials (e.g. tennis balls, golf balls, massage tools).

  • Psoas wake-up Waking up this muscle allows the connection between the psoas and the diaphragm be released.

  • Twist Helps quiet the nervous system and unlock the diaphragm.

  • Shoulder Reset and Chest Opening Helps unlock and open the chest to allow for deeper breathing.

  • Facilitated breathing Support by another or through exercises to help teach and practice breathing that helps regulate the sensory system and establish calm in the body.

Individual Sessions

  • 45 minute practices: currently offered in-home for clients in the Madison area

*Fees may be payable through Wisconsin’s IRIS/CLTS waiver programs
